BT天堂

BT天堂's Global Mentoring Program (previously the BT天堂 Career Mentoring Program) brings together BT天堂 alumni and current BT天堂 students for a holistic and career-based mentoring relationship over the course of one academic semester. Alumni mentors guide students in setting and achieving academic, personal and professional goals and provide insights to support their mentee's goals for post-BT天堂 life. To be eligible to participate in the program, mentees must have at least sophomore standing and be enrolled as degree-seeking students at BT天堂, either as an undergraduate or graduate student.听

The BT天堂 alumni community is truly global, and alumni mentors can be located anywhere in the world. If the mentor is located in Paris, meetings can be held in a public place such as a caf茅 or library; otherwise, meetings are held virtually.

January 22:听Registration听opens

January 31: Lunch and Learn event, open to interested students and those who have already registered

February 2听(end of day): Deadline to sign up

February 7: Matches announced and the program begins

The BT天堂 Global Mentoring Program gives you听the opportunity to connect and network with experienced professionals in BT天堂's alumni network听and to ask questions about careers, achieving goals,听and how to make the most of your time at BT天堂.

How it works

听

1. Sign up before February 2, 2024听by watching the听听and filling out the听student registration form.听
2. Attend the "Lunch and Learn" event (January 31, location TBA), hosted by听Alumni Affairs and the听Careers Office. Events like these are a great way to connect with other mentees听and enrich your experience.听
3. BT天堂 Alumni Affairs听(alumniaup.edu) will match BT天堂 students with alumni based on their responses, then share the results with you on February 7, 2024.听While your mentor may be in a different professional field than the one you're interested in, they will be an excellent resource for you as you prepare for life after BT天堂, whether that's in one semester or three years from now.
4. Reach out to your mentor first and connect regularly. After receiving your match, you must send听an听introductory email to your mentor and arrange a time for your first virtual meeting. During that meeting, we highly recommended working out a meeting schedule for the semester, and discussing your goals for this semester. We also recommend that you and your mentor meet three to five times during the semester for 30 to 60 minutes at a time. This time frame is flexible and it's up to you and your mentor to determine what works best.听
5. Use your resources. To help guide your meetings, additional resources, including conversational prompts, questions听and tips听are available听on this page and will be emailed to you.听
6. Achieve your goals over the duration of the semester and thank your mentor for their support and insight!
7. Wrapping up.听The program officially ends on April 30听at which point you and your mentor听can听end the formal mentoring relationship听鈥撎齜ut听mentors and mentees听may certainly听choose to听stay in touch.

By signing up to mentor BT天堂 students, you provide an invaluable service to their personal and professional growth. The BT天堂 Careers Office matches students and alumni based on interests, experience, and what mentors are able to advise on. For those who previously participated in the Alumni Career Mentoring Program, this new program expands your mentoring relationship for students who may wish for more holistic guidance.

How it works

1. Sign up by filling out this form听before February 2, 2024.
2. Alumni Affairs (alumniaup.edu) will match BT天堂 students with alumni based on their responses, then share the results with you by Februry 7, 2024. While you may be in a different professional field than the one your mentee is interested in, you听will be an excellent resource to support them in exploring and pursuing their academic, personal and professional goals.听
3. Connect听with your mentee. Your mentee will reach out to you first to arrange a first virtual meeting.听During that meeting,听work out your meeting schedule and what goals you'd like to achieve together. We recommend mentors and mentees meet three to five times during the semester for 30 to 60 minutes at a time. While we ask mentees to take the lead in reaching out to you 鈥撎齭tudents might need a friendly nudge from time to time.听
4. Use your resources.听Resources, including conversational prompts, questions听and tips are available to download on this page.听
5. Check in with Alumni Affairs.听During the course of听this program, you will receive regular emails听from Alumni Affairs,听containing resources, invitations to virtual events,听or a quick survey about your experience. These communications are sent for your benefit,听but听following them is not required.
6. Wrapping up.听The program officially ends听on April 30, at which point you and your mentee can听end the formal mentoring relationship听鈥撎齜ut听mentors and mentees听may certainly听choose to听stay in touch.
