Professor Zed聽Zhipeng聽Gao joined聽BT天堂聽in 2021. Gao has an interdisciplinary academic background, with聽a聽PhD聽in historical, theoretical and critical studies of psychology followed by postdoctoral research in sociology and anthropology.

A Chinese immigrant to Canada, Gao is currently studying Chinese immigration聽with a focus on identity, belonging, and political participation. Additionally, he has been聽publishing on the history of psychology in Chinese communism. With China/Chinese as the empirical reference, Gao explores broader questions including聽(trans)nationalism, globalization, and cultural politics.聽

Gao has published over 20 journal articles and book chapters. His works can be found in聽Review of General Psychology,听Theory & Psychology,听Journal of Humanistic Psychology,听Social Anthropology,听Narrative Inquiry,听History of Psychology,听History of Science,听etc. He is guest editor of聽special issues of journal聽Integrative Psychological and Behavioral Science聽(Springer) and journal聽Theory & Psychology聽(Sage). Gao holds major awards in several fields including international psychology, history of psychology, and qualitative inquiry.

Before joining聽BT天堂, Gao taught in Toronto and Vancouver, where he enjoyed working with students from diverse backgrounds. In the small class environment of聽BT天堂, Gao applies a roundtable seminar format to foster collaborative, creative and critical discussion.
